Solar junction box

This innovative junction box wasspecially designed for the robot-based, fully-automatic manufacture of photovoltaic panels.

Weidm¨¹ller¡¯s new junction box features an innovative design and provides flexible assembly options. Thus it can significantly simplify the process of manufacturing photovoltaic panels, which results in a long-term reduction in costs. The photovoltaic junction box can also significantly simplify the manual manufacturing process. Manual assembly is facilitated by a two-part housing design. The upper and lower parts are assembled in an easy "Plug & Play" operation.

The box has a compact size of 162 mm length by 77 mm width by 29 mm height. Pre-assembled PV cables come equipped with standard plugs. They enter the upper part of the housing through a cable entryway that implements an innovative sealing and strain relief system. In comparison with other available cable entry feeds, this system permits much higher wire pull-out forces to be applied on the permanently interlocked cable entry. Thus it is no longer possible to unintentionally loosen the connection.

Bypass diodes are used for the box. This results in low power loss and therefore less heat build-up. In this configuration, the photovoltaic junction box is certified by the German Technical Inspectorate (TÜV). It also complies with the latest requirements from DIN V VDE 0126 5 05.08.
